Why Do We Speak In Tongues

Acts 2:1-4

1. Tongues are the initial evidence of Holy

Spirit Baptism. (Acts 2:4)

2. Tongues are for spiritual edification. (1

Corinthians 14:4)

3. Praying in tongues, keeps us in the

perfect will of God. (Romans 8:26-27)

4. Praying in tongues keeps us free from

worldly contamination. (1Corinthians

14:28)

5. Praying in tongues stimulates faith and

keeps us in Gods love. (Jude 1:20)

6. Praying in tongues enables us to pray for

the unknown. (Romans 8:26)

7. Praying in tongues gives us a spiritual

refreshing. (Acts 3:19-20)8. Praying in tongues helps us give thanks

and magnify God. (Acts 10:46)

9. Praying in tongues brings our natural

tongue under spiritual subjection. (James

3:8)

10. Praying in tongues reminds us of the

Spirits indwelling. (John 14:16-17)

“I thank God I pray in tongues more than all

of you.” (1 Corinthians 14:18)
