When You Face Your Giant
It is one of the most widely known stories in all of Scripture. So familiar that it is woven into our cultural language, yet every time we return to it, we discover something fresh. It’s the story of David and Goliath.
The truth is, every one of us will face giants in our lives, though our giants are not nine-foot-tall Philistines standing in a valley. Most of them are invisible. They are the fears, the stress, the pressure, the crisis. The thing that is waiting for you when you wake up in the morning. Or worse, the thing that keeps you up at night.
Our giants are deeply personal.
But here is the good news. David’s story gives us a blueprint for defeating the giants we face. The battle ultimately comes down to perspective. This Sunday, we continue week two of our series, “Giant Slayer” from 1 Samuel 17. Scripture gives us clear direction on what to do when you are staring down a giant and reveals how God teaches His people to see the battle differently.
We will also share Communion together as a church family. There is something sacred about gathering around the Lord’s Table and remembering the victory Jesus secured for us through the Cross (1 Corinthians 11:23–26, ESV). As we move toward Easter, it is the perfect moment to center our hearts on Christ.
This is also the season when many new people are coming through our doors. We are preparing for record attendance on Easter Sunday and an incredible harvest of people discovering life in all its fullness. That means we need all hands on deck. If you would like to serve, I encourage you to sign up to be part of one of our teams.
Let me leave you with a simple challenge for you this week. Be a bringer.
Studies show that nine out of ten people say they would attend church if someone simply invited them. There are people in your life who are waiting for that invitation. Pick up a few Easter invite cards this weekend and extend the invitation. It could change their life for eternity!
There is a fresh outpouring taking place in our church family. God is moving in powerful ways. I cannot wait to worship together this weekend.
Grace to you,
Pastor Daniel
