The Great I Am

2 Peter 1:3–4 (ESV)

“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature…”

• What Things? All things.

• How do we gain all things? Through the knowledge of Him.

• How do I grow in that knowledge? Become a partaker.

Jesus Saves the Next Revelation of His Identity for Those Closest to Him

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

How Do We Find Our Way to God?

1. Jesus Is The Way – The Gate to the Tabernacle

“For the gate of the court there shall be a screen twenty cubits long, of blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, embroidered with needlework. It shall have four pillars and with them four bases.”

Key Truths About “The Way”

• There was only one way into the Tabernacle.

• The curtain was woven with four colors and supported by four pillars.

• The four Gospels, four perspectives, one perfect story.

2. Jesus Is The Truth – The Door to the Tent

• The Truth separates the consecrated from the common.

• The Truth brings greater revelation.

• The Truth invites deeper worship.

3. Jesus Is The Life – The Veil

And you shall hang it on four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold, with hooks of gold, on four bases of silver. And you shall hang the veil from the clasps and bring the ark of the testimony in there within the veil. And the veil shall separate for you the Holy Place from the Most Holy.”

• The veil was torn at Jesus’ death, granting full access to God.

• The Most Holy Place contained the Ark of the Covenant, where God’s presence dwelled.

• The priest had to sprinkle blood on the Mercy Seat for atonement.
