Paul’s Thorn In The Flesh
On several occasions, the apostle Paul asked the Lord to remove his “thorn in the flesh.” Each time the Lord replied by saying, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9, NLT).
The specifics of Paul’s thorn in the flesh have been debated over the centuries, yet he chose not to include the details. Why? Perhaps, it’s because just like his thorn is unique to him, ours is unique to each of us.
Every single one of us in our daily lives face different struggles and situations that press against us and if we allow it, can cause us to live in doubt and disbelief. Regardless of what Paul’s thorn was, the answer to everything that we face is always the same: God’s grace is sufficient!
God‘s grace is His enabling strength to be all that Jesus is, to do all that Jesus does, and to become all that Jesus wants. Grace is the only way.
You need His grace today to be a better spouse, parent, and even as a believer. You need His grace today to press through and persevere everything that comes your way. Stop striving and relying on your own effort and strength. Call upon the Lord and receive His all sufficient grace in this moment.
This Sunday, we continue in our series, “Grace upon Grace” anchored in Galatians chapter 3. If you’ve been following along in the Bible reading plan you’ll have a good idea where we are headed this week. I encourage you to come with a heart ready to receive and let your faith and expectation for what God will do rise. Anything is possible!
Believing for Revival,
Pastor
PS – One of the signs of a healthy church is that the nursery and kids area are growing. That’s what is taking place in Grace Kids, Jr (children ages 0-4). We are looking for incredible people to come alongside to impart to the youngest members of Grace. There are opportunities to serve 1-2 Sundays a month to lead a class or be an assistant. The curriculum is already prepared, each leader will be trained and the kids will be impacted by your heart and willingness to show them Jesus. If you’re looking for a wonderful place to serve, sign up on our Church Center app or go say hi to Amber at the Grace Kids, Jr welcome desk. We would love for you to come and see how the Lord is moving in the next generation!
