Navigating Mountains

I’m writing to you today from the beautiful mountains of the Carolinas. This weekend is a special one—Caden is turning 13! (Be sure to wish him a happy birthday when you see him!)

There are moments in life that carry deep significance. In Hebrew culture, a boy is recognized as stepping into manhood at the age of 12. Sadly, in modern culture, we often miss the opportunity to acknowledge these important transitions.

For Caden’s 13th birthday, I wanted to give him a mountain to conquer—both literally and figuratively. A new challenge to embrace as we celebrate this milestone. He’s growing up, and I couldn’t be more proud of the young man he is becoming.

As followers of Christ, challenges are woven into our journey. The road isn’t always smooth. Life presents us with rugged peaks and difficult climbs, but we don’t walk alone. We have a Good Shepherd who goes before us, walks beside us, and leads us through. If we learn to listen to His voice and trust His guidance, He will always bring us through.

David reminds us of the blessings of following our Shepherd in Psalm 23. Here are seven benefits of walking in His care:
    1.    Provision – “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalm 23:1)
    2.    Peace – “He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.” (Psalm 23:2)
    3.    A Path – “He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:3)
    4.    Protection – “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.” (Psalm 23:4)
    5.    Prosperity – “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” (Psalm 23:5)
    6.    Presence – “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” (Psalm 23:6a)
    7.    Promise – “I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:6b)

Take a moment and look back at the terrain you’ve already covered. He can be trusted in the present because He has been fully faithful in the past!

This weekend, we continue our series on the “I Am” statements of Jesus—“I Am the Resurrection.” I can’t wait to see you there as we dive into this powerful truth together!
