Moments Matter

We remember the moments in life, not the minutes. It’s likely you don’t remember where you were the morning of October 16, 2007. I do, and in perfect detail. That’s the day our daughter was born. Life changed for Jenna and myself in so many wonderful ways. Much like July 26th 2003 did, (the day we were married), February 7th, 2012 and November 11th, 2013 (the days our boys were born) as well.

Those over the age of 40 remember exactly where you were on September 11, 2001. I was in the chapel at Bible College for a prayer meeting. That one hour meeting turned into a day of intercession. It wasn’t until late that afternoon that I was finally able to see the images out of New York and Washington, D.C.

Moments mark us.

There are special moments like births or marriage that are remembered with great fondness and then there are the tragic moments that are remembered with sadness. All of these moments write the story of our lives. When we yield these moments to the Lord, He writes every one of them into a testimony of grace. The beautiful moments tell the story of His blessings and the more difficult moments tell the story of His faithfulness.

Every week at Grace, we have the opportunity to introduce people across the Nature Coast to their own powerful moments with the Lord. These moments, when all woven together, create a beautiful mosaic that shows who Jesus really is.

That’s how I want to be remembered. That’s the mark I want to leave for others; to simply show people Jesus. It’s our message and our mission.

This past week at our Serve Team Appreciation night, we showed a slideshow that celebrated 2023. Many asked for a copy of this special moment so I am sharing it with you today. It’s an 8 minute celebration of moments that showed Jesus.

Today, as you prepare to head into your weekend, ask Jesus for your own moment and look for the opportunity to share Him with your family and friends.

PS – This Sunday we begin a new series, “Grace Upon Grace” a study out of Galatians. Alongside that our reading plan for this month is, “Crash Course in the Apostle Paul”. It’s a 10 day study through the books of Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and 1 Thessalonians. I hope you’ll join us as we read and grow in God’s Word together.
