He Speaks Truth into Troubled Waters
Just a quick scan of the headlines, and you see that there are many troubled waters on a global scale. It’s possible that by the time you read this email, Iran has launched an attack on Israel, causing the Middle East conflict to expand into a broader war. It’s likely that enemies from the south, Hezbollah from the north, Hamas from the west, and other groups from the east have conspired together to come against Israel all at once.
Russia has strengthened ties with Iran in recent years and would likely be an ally, at minimum providing financial and artillery support. Each of these headlines feels apocalyptic, pointing to the last days and visions written in books like Daniel and Revelation. One thing is certain: the return of Jesus has never been closer.
In Daniel chapter 2, Nebuchadnezzar had a dream of kingdoms rising and falling and empires being forever destroyed as an eternal kingdom is established. There wasn’t a wise man in all of his land that could bring peace to his troubled soul. It wasn’t until Daniel, a man who knew the true God, stood up and spoke up that Nebuchadnezzar found truth in the midst of his troubles.
As believers, we’re not called to be tossed around in the chaos of today’s crises. We’re called to stand firm and to speak out, to speak into troubled times.
There were times when Daniel’s own spirit was disturbed, but rather than turning to the world, he turned to the Creator of the world. With fasting and prayer, he sought the Lord until the Lord answered, and in the voice of the Lord, he found peace.
I encourage you with two things: one, if you find your own spirit troubled in the midst of today’s circumstances, there’s only one place where you’ll ever find peace, and that is in His presence. Seek the Lord while He may be found. He’s waiting.
Second, there’s a lost and broken world around us that is in desperate need of someone who cares enough about them to speak truth into their own troubles. Stand upon the truth of God’s Word and speak out love and truth in these troubled times.
This Sunday, we’ll jump into Daniel chapter 2 and talk about how God is over all things, and that while man may make his plans, it is God who writes His story. Praying for you this week. Praying for peace in Israel.
Grace to You,
Pastor
P.S. We will be taking a moment in our service this weekend to pray over our students and teachers who will be returning to school this coming week. Look forward to seeing you!
