Raising Truth-Speakers in a Troubled World

As parents, grandparents, and leaders, we bear a great responsibility in raising the next generation. Today, the lines between right and wrong are so blurred that few can discern the difference between the shifting sands of opinion and the unchanging rock of God’s truth.

Our children are growing up in a world increasingly untethered from biblical foundations. Truth is often seen as relative, shaped by personal feelings rather than God’s wisdom. Everyone is encouraged to live “their own truth,” while rejecting God’s truth.

Proverbs 22:6 reminds us to “train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it” (ESV). This verse is more than a promise; it’s a call to action. It’s on us to model a life rooted in the truth of Scripture, to speak of it in our homes, and to weave it into the very fabric of our daily lives.

Consider for a moment the areas where our children need to hear truth today:

1. In Our Homes: Our homes should be sanctuaries of truth, where God’s Word is the foundation of our family life. Truth should be evident in our day-to-day interactions, our conversations around the dinner table, and in the way we love and discipline our children.

2. In Our Schools: As our children navigate their educational journey, they are often confronted with ideas and worldviews that challenge biblical truths. Ensuring that they are equipped with a strong, truth-based foundation will help them discern and stand firm against false teachings.

3. In Our Churches: The church must be a beacon of truth in a world of confusion. We must preach and teach God’s Word faithfully, providing clear, biblical guidance on issues of morality, identity, and purpose.

4. In Media and Entertainment: The content we consume shapes our beliefs and values. Truth is needed to counteract the pervasive messages of relativism, materialism, and self-centeredness that are often promoted in popular media.

5. In Our Public Discourse: Whether it’s in politics, social media, or our community conversations, truth is essential. In an age of misinformation and “fake news,” speaking truth in love (Ephesians 4:15, ESV) is more important than ever to foster understanding, justice, and peace.

Remember, when the world is troubled, we must speak truth.

Do not underestimate the power of your words and witness. People are watching and listening. More importantly, they are learning. The stories we share from the Bible, the prayers we say before meals, the way we handle challenges—all of these are teaching truth.

I encourage you to take time this week to evaluate how you’re passing on faith. Are we discussing the Bible openly with our kids? Are we equipping them with the tools to discern truth from lies? Are we praying with them, not just for them?

I am so thankful that we get to do this together. We are raising our kids in a healthy church community that values truth and values them! You have my commitment to do everything possible to provide this generation with the foundation they need to thrive as the leaders they are called to be. There’s no greater legacy we can leave them.

Believing for Revival,

Pastor Daniel
