BUY THE FIELD

Text: Proverbs 31:16

Wisdom still speaks, and today, wisdom is saying, “Buy the field.”

Proverbs 31:16 — “She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.”

The field is whatever God has placed in front of you that requires your yes, your faithfulness, and your time, even before you ever see the return.

Wisdom still speaks, and today, wisdom is saying, “Buy the field.”

1. WISDOM SEES WHAT OTHERS OVERLOOK

“She considers a field…”

Consider means pause, take your time, look at, weigh it out…

Don’t miss the things that are in front of us that we need to truly see.

Potential is often hidden in the ordinary.

Get off the carousel! Too many times, we circle around the same thing, always coming back to the same place, but never truly moving

Don’t be held back by fear, hesitation, “maybe one day”, past failures, or feeling unqualified.

“The opportunity of a lifetime must be seized during the lifetime of the opportunity.” – Leonard Ravenhill

Slow down and take time to see the potential hidden in the ordinary.

Wisdom still speaks and says, “Do not overlook what God is asking you to consider.” Buy the field.

2. WISDOM STAYS WHEN OTHERS WALK AWAY

“…and buys it”

People love the idea of opportunity, but they don’t want the commitment that comes along with it.

Buying the field means intention is attached. You’ve got a plan for this field to be cultivated, a vision to see it grow, and produce fruit in the field.

Your YES matters.

Wisdom still speaks and says, “There is power in your Yes.” Buy the field.

3. WISDOM SOWS BEFORE IT SEES FRUIT

“…with the fruit of her hands she plants…”

If we are honest, this is where most of us live. In the tension of discouragement and frustration.

This is where discouragement tries to settle in and feels like nothing is happening.

Orchards don’t grow overnight!

What grows quickly are weeds.

Weeds grow fast, sometimes overnight.

Weeds have very shallow roots, and do not produce fruit.

They do not require time or attention.

But orchards are different.

Orchards require intentionality, commitment, patience, cultivation, pruning, deep roots.

When you are looking for fruit, God is building the roots.

Remember your WHY

Don’t let your yes get buried under the weight of the waiting.

Isaiah 55:8-11(ESV) says:

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”

God’s Word does not fail. EVER.

Wisdom still speaks and says, “Keep sowing when you cannot see it.” Buy the field.

4. WISDOM SACRIFICES FOR FUTURE HARVEST

“…she plants a vineyard.”

Wisdom doesn’t just plant for today and consume the fruit for themselves. Wisdom sows with the future in mind.

Your life matters.

The family you are raising matters.

Your prayers matter.

The choices you make matter.

Obedience matters.

The field God has placed in front of you has purpose.

It has a future attached to it.

You may never see the full harvest, but future generations will live in the fruit of what you were faithful to plant.

Wisdom still speaks and says, “Sacrifice for what will outlive you.” Buy the field.

The question to you today is not just, “What field is in front of me?” The question is, “Am I willing to buy it?”

Declare this over your life:

I see the field in front of me.

I see the assignment in what others walk past.

I will not overlook what God is asking me to consider.

I will buy the field.

My yes stands.

My yes matters.

What God placed in my hands is worth every bit of the cost.

There is power in my Yes.

I will buy the field.

I will not despise this season.

I will not quit because I cannot see the fruit.

God is building roots beneath the surface.

His word over my life does not return empty.

His word does not fail. Ever.

I will keep sowing when I cannot see it.

I will buy the field.

What I am faithful to today will outlive me.

Future generations will be blessed because I refused to quit.

I will sacrifice for what will outlive me.

I will buy the field.

Lord, give me eyes to see the field in front of me.

Give me strength to own my yes.

Give me grace to keep sowing when I cannot see it.

Give me faith to plant for what will outlive me.

I will buy the field.

In Jesus name. Amen.
