Day 24

A Fresh Move

By: Daniel Norris

“And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.”
(Joel 2:28, NIV)

The day I received the baptism in the Holy Spirit, two things happened.

First, I felt fully alive. It was like a fire was lit on the inside of me. The presence of God became more real and personal. There was boldness and a sense of empowerment I had never experienced before. I knew, in that moment, I had been given everything I needed to be all God had called me to be.

Second, I got angry. Righteously angry. For years, I had tried to live the Christian life in my own strength. I was expected to resist sin, live holy, and share my faith. But I had never been taught that the power to do those things comes through the Spirit. It was like trying to drive a car without any fuel. That day, the Holy Spirit filled me, and everything changed. What once felt burdensome became emboldened.

Joel prophesied of this. He said the Spirit would come upon all people. This was not just for prophets, priests, or pastors, but for sons and daughters, young and old, all flesh. That promise was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost when Peter stood and declared, “This is that.”

What Joel saw and what Jesus promised, the early church received. That same outpouring is available to you today.

The Spirit has not stopped moving. God is still pouring out His Spirit, and He longs to fill you afresh. As we close out this 21-day journey and step into a new year, do not go forward in your own strength. Ask the Lord to fill you again. Begin each day immersed in the Spirit. Let every decision, every conversation, and every step be led by Him.

The Holy Spirit is not optional. He is essential. Invite Him to move in you again. Say it with me, “Holy Spirit, come.”

Reflection:

  • Have you received the baptism of the Holy Spirit? If not, are you willing to ask and receive?
  • When was the last time you felt His power freshly stirred in your life?
  • What might change if you walked into this year fully empowered by His Spirit?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the promise of Your Spirit. I open my heart today for a fresh outpouring. Baptize me again. Let boldness rise. Let dreams and visions awaken. Let my life be filled with the presence and power of Your Spirit. I choose to live Spirit-empowered, not self-driven. I want to walk in step with You every day. Come, Holy Spirit. Fill me anew. In Jesus’ name, amen.
