Day 16
Vision for Your Home
By: Daniel Norris
“Then the Lord replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.’” (Habakkuk 2:2–3, NIV)
We built our current house from the ground up. It was a fun and rewarding process that has given our family a place to grow. Every time I walk through the front doors, I am reminded of the choices we made in those early days. The layout of the foyer, the openness of the living space, the placement of bedrooms, and the bonus room that keeps the kids’ messes out of view were all intentional decisions.
None of that would have happened if we had not taken the time to write down the vision and make it plain. Every contractor and subcontractor needed clear direction. They could not build what they could not see.
The same is true in every area of life, especially in our homes. Without vision, families drift. However, when a family hears from the Lord and sets their course accordingly, it brings clarity, momentum, and unity.
Vision is not just about knowing what you want to do. It is about seeing what God has spoken over your family. What has He called you to carry in this season? What promises has He made that you have yet to see fulfilled? Take time to listen. Then write it down. Don’t let vision stay vague. Define it clearly. Display it where your family can see it. Speak it in faith.
We often talk about setting personal goals and resolutions for a new year, but go deeper. What are you believing God to accomplish in your home? What are you praying for in your marriage, your children, or your legacy? Talk about it together. Make it plain and begin to pray into it as a family.
Let this new year be more than a fresh calendar. Let it be a reset of purpose. Ask the Lord for vision. Ask Him for unity. Then run together in faith toward everything He has prepared.
Reflection:
- What promises has God spoken over your life or family that you need to write down?
- Are there any goals you need to revisit or redefine this year?
- When will you take the time to discuss and pray over this as a family?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for being a God who speaks and leads. I ask for fresh vision for my life and family in this new year. Give us clarity in our direction and unity in our decisions. Help us write down what You are saying so we can run with it faithfully. Even when it feels slow, remind us that Your promises never fail. Align our hearts with Your purpose, and let this be a year of fulfilled vision. In Jesus’ name, amen.
